Training to create self-sustainability
The ARDA Trade and Technology Center is an occupational training and job placement center for young Armenian men and women. Our objective is to increase the number of skilled workers in the work force, improve the quality of construction projects, help working families to make a decent living, and establish opportunities for entrepreneurial enterprises. Our goal is that we educate individuals towards self sustainability. The Center is an 8,600 square foot, three story facility that was completed in 2009. The center contains offices, lecture halls, conference area, training rooms, dining facility, warehouse and temporary living accommodations for guests. Most of the students at the Center come from very needy families. The training they receive at the Center gives them skills that are valuable to have when entering the job market. Current programs offered at the Center include:
Construction internships
Welding courses
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced English classes
Computer classes in Microsoft programs
Sewing Classes
Photography Classes
Students in the construction internship program learn practical experience in areas of
Concrete forming and flat work
Structural steel and rebar placement
Wall structures
Carpentry
Mechanical systems
Electrical wiring
Underground and overhead power
Plumbing, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems
Security and fire safety systems
Structural welding
